LEJOG day 21: Tewkesbury to Worcester
I am not alone! Today and tomorrow and Monday I am accompanied by another school friend, also called Emma, and it is nice!
Predominantly today was not terribly eventful. I followed the Severn Way from Tewkesbury all the way to Worcester and it was mostly well-maintained and well-marked and pleasant walking. There was one exciting bit where the Way and I had to do a mile-long detour to go around a house, the owners of which clearly didn't want anyone trekking through their woodland, but otherwise I walked along with the river beside me meandering away as it is inclined to do.
I did come across a pair of cyclists, who seemed madder than most - in order to avoid cycling along the road they were instead suffering through I don't know how many miles of stiles, kissing gates and narrow footpaths through ankle- to knee-high wet grass and nettles. I did try to impress upon them how unpleasant the 6 miles to their destination were going to be but they seemed determined to put themselves through it anyway.
Distance walked: 20.01 miles
Time taken: 5h45
Percentage completed: 29.6%
Miles per £1 of boot: 3.31
Lunch: egg and cress sandwich and a yoghurt/mango/blueberry/quinoa breakfast pot which I thought would be sweet as well as filling but sadly wasn't really dessert-appropriate
Last night's B&B: Barton House, Tewkesbury: avoid.
The house the Severn Way detours around
A water board establishment of some kind
The Toll House
It's for sale and right by about five pubs and a nature reserve
The House Of Detour

ReplyDeleteThat for-sale house is gorgeous! Shame I don't have n million pounds and it's not commuting distance. Hope you are enjoying having the company x
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely and the garden looked spectacular, but it's not wildly convenient for London :)
